PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Questions have emerged over Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s reported assets, the funding of religious seminaries and the concentration of political positions within his family.
The claims have prompted calls for greater transparency regarding the financial management of religious institutions, the sources of political funding and the assets declared by JUI-F Chief.
One key issue concerns the funding of madrassas across Pakistan. Questions have been raised about the sources of financial support for these institutions, how their funds are managed and whether students receive opportunities to participate in mainstream education and public life.
Additionally, Fazl-ur-Rehman’s reported properties and lifestyle have also drawn scrutiny in the supplied material. These claims include residences in Islamabad and Dera Ismail Khan, luxury vehicles and other assets linked to the family.
Moreover, the distribution of political positions within JUI-F has also become a subject of criticism.
Remarkably, Fazl-ur-Rehman himself serves as the central leader, his brother acts as the leader for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a Senator, while his son holds a ministerial position in the federal government and oversees the digital media apparatus.
With all key political and financial positions within the party confined to a single family, the question now arises: is this a political or religious party, or merely a private limited company owned by a family?
The blackmailing tactics and self-serving opportunism of Fazl-ur-Rehman, who has exploited the impoverished people of Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to further his own political and financial interests, have now been fully exposed.
Moreover, questions have emerged about who the rightful beneficiaries are of the funds collected in the name of religion and madaris (seminaries), the various privileges received, and the land allotted at throwaway prices.
Furthermore, when will an accounting be provided for their lavish public gatherings and extravagant, indulgent lifestyles?
