MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A disturbing incident has been reported in Muzaffarabad’s Garhi Dupatta area, where a police officer allegedly physically abused an elderly woman and her son.
According to eyewitnesses, the cop, identified as Younis Chaudhry, was intoxicated while in uniform and started a physical altercation with the woman.
As per details, the elderly woman and his son came to a doctor, and as soon as they reached the Sarbazar Road, Younis, who is posted at Garhi Dupatta police station, started abusing her without any reason.
The police officer allegedly dragged the elderly woman and her son to Sarbazar Road, removed her headscarf, and abused her without reason.
Locals intervened and rescued the victims, while the police officer’s behavior sparked outrage among traders and citizens.
Following the incident, the locals closed the road to all traffic in protest against the police officer’s actions and demanded justice for the police misconduct and abuse of power.
