MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Muzaffarabad Police have arrested a man accused of robbing citizens at various automated teller machines (ATM) across the capital city of Azad Kashmir.
According to the police, Awais Mir, a resident of Sund Gali, was wanted for perpetrating a series of ATM scams targeting citizens.
As per details, Mir would approach individuals at ATMs, deceive them into believing the machine was malfunctioning, and ask them to leave. Once they departed, he withdrew cash from their accounts.
The City Police Station in Muzaffarabad conducted a thorough investigation into the case and maintained secret surveillance at various ATMs in the city for the past one and a half weeks.
SHO City PS Wajahat Kazmi said that repeated complaints from citizens have led to Mir’s arrest. Authorities are expecting significant revelations from ongoing investigations with the accused.
