As per the law, owners, tenants, managers, and property dealers are required to register tenants with the police station within 48 hours. Similarly, hotel and guest house owners must provide passenger details to the police station within 3 hours.
Failure to comply may result in arrest, FIR registration, and penalties, including six months of imprisonment and fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 100,000, SHO said.
