MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir  (AJK) issued a statement on Wednesday, calling the remarks made by the AJK Prime Minister regarding the PMLN leadership as misleading and a failed attempt to distort the facts.

The statement reads that the party considers it necessary to put some points forward before the public of the AJK.

The PML (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir has a total of nine (9) members of the Legislative Assembly. Of these, four are from Azad Kashmir, four are from refugees residing in Pakistan, and one woman has been elected on a reserved seat, the release said.

“The present government includes five ministers and one advisor from the Muslim League (N). Three ministers are from refugee seats, and two are from Azad Kashmir. The woman member is performing responsibilities as an advisor to the government.

The four members from Azad Kashmir, who are in the government ranks, are receiving the same benefits and development funds in their respective constituencies that every elected representative gets under the law. These four constituencies — Upper Neelum, Chakar, Hujra and Barnala — were cited by the Prime Minister in his interview as examples of PML-N’s “government partnership”, even though the remaining 29 constituencies are in opposition and facing severe government retaliation, including withholding of funds, appointments based on merit, political pressure, and interference in transfers.

Therefore, the allegation that PML-N is playing the role of opposition by joining the government is an unfair and malicious propaganda based on just four constituencies,” the statement further added.

The Prime Minister’s calling his political rival a “rejected man” is not only an impolite way of speaking but also historically baseless.

The statement released alleged that “The Prime Minister should remember that his electoral success was possible due to the support of the then-establishment. The alleged donation of Rs 10 crore by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and the hard work of Raja Ali Zulqarnain, these facts are still part of the political and journalistic record.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas himself has made serious allegations against the Prime Minister in the media, to which the Prime Minister has not been able to respond to date.”

As far as the question of being “rejected”, it is also part of history that Chaudhry Tariq Farooq has defeated the Prime Minister and his father three times from the same constituency.

Chaudhry Tariq Farooq’s entire political life is one of ideological steadfastness, party loyalty, and democratic values. He has neither changed parties nor loyalties. He has been the Senior Vice President of the Muslim League (N) Azad Kashmir for 11 years and the Secretary General for the last 3 years.

He is also a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Muslim League (N). He enjoys the full trust of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The statement reads that “On the other hand, the tradition of the Prime Minister’s family changing parties is so well-known that Ms. Faryal Talpur herself has taunted him as “unreliable”.

In these circumstances, if anyone proves himself to be a political orphan, abandoned and ideologically baseless, then he is the Prime Minister himself, and congratulations to him for becoming the Prime Minister after being a political pawn.

We advise the Prime Minister to focus on his own performance, the direction of the cabinet, and public issues, rather than criticizing political opponents, so that future generations can remember him based on his achievements, and not just on the claims of coming to power.
