PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently chairing an important meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Apex Committee on terrorism at the Governor House in Peshawar on Thursday, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived on his first visit to Peshawar since the imposition of governor’s rule and an emergency in KP on October 11. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Atta Tarar also arrived in Peshawar.
The meeting is reviewing the overall security situation in KP and measures being taken to combat terrorism and establish peace, sources said. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, federal and provincial ministers, and senior civil and military officials are attending the high-level meeting.
Governor Kundi had earlier invited the prime minister to visit Peshawar and chair a high-level meeting to address the province’s security concerns and administrative challenges.
