PM Shehbaz arrives in Washington to meet President Trump

WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Washington, DC, to meet US President Donald Trump.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived at Andrews Air Base along with a Pakistani delegation and was welcomed on the red carpet by a senior US Air Force official.

The Prime Minister’s motorcade left the airbase under strict security. The Prime Minister will reach the White House shortly.

The Prime Minister will meet US President Donald Trump, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will accompany the Prime Minister.

According to the White House, during the meeting in the Oval Office, detailed discussions are expected on global and regional issues, including the Pakistan-India war in May and the Kashmir issue.

Earlier, the PM Shehbaz Sharif had a very short but informal meeting with US President Donald Trump at the end of the Arab Islamic Summit in New York.

The encounter occurred in a cordial environment, with the two leaders shaking hands and greeting each other. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during the short meeting.

Additionally, at the session of the United Nations General Assembly, PM Sharif recognized Trump’s work towards world peace and remarked on the key points made in his speech.

The premier also underscored Trump’s efforts to de-escalate tensions between Pakistan and India and reaffirmed Pakistan’s interest in supporting peace and stability within the region.

He underscored Pakistan’s commitment to cooperating with the international community in order to identify sustainable solutions to global issues.
