MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Ramazan Relief Package, which totals Rs. 38 billion, to assist eligible families who live in all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The prime minister announced at the 2026 PM Ramazan Package launch event that the program would distribute funds to 1.21 million families through digital methods, which would treat all recipients equally.
The digital wallet and direct bank transfer system will provide Rs. 13,000 to each eligible family. The government allocated Rs. 10 billion from the total Rs. 38 billion package to assist families who have already registered for the Kafalat program.
The prime minister announced that the government developed a new digital system to replace the previous distribution system, which depended on utility stores, because it allowed better transparency while maintaining beneficiary dignity.
He explained that previous packages created problems because people needed to wait in long lines, and they received poor-quality materials. He recognized that the digital model implementation faced obstacles because banks needed to be coordinated, and cashless systems had to be established.
The State Bank of Pakistan established regulations that guarantee that payments will be distributed securely and transparently. The government will conduct scheduled evaluations of the implementation advancement as he specified.
