MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq praised the vital role women play in development both economically and socially, citing Islam’s emphasis on Women’s rights.
He stated that Islam has given a great place to women, and the great Prophet Hazarat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has explained the rights of women and given them representation in every field of life.
In a special statement issued on International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister stated that women in Pakistani and Kashmiri societies have played a crucial role in contributing both to family and social life while proving their potential in every field.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the valiant role of women alongside men in the fight for freedom in Kashmir and honored Kashmiri women who had lost their lives during the conflict.
The Prime Minister noted the role of his government in instituting and promoting women’s empowerment and welfare, such as by establishing vocational training institutions, granting technical training, and giving out interest-free loans.
He said that our government is paying special attention to the development and welfare of women, in Azad Kashmir, women have complete freedom to work in every profession, there is a zero-tolerance policy in cases of harassment against women, various vocational training institutions are being set up.
Women are being provided technical training to become productive citizens of society.
Additionally, he condemned human rights violations against women in Indian-occupied Kashmir, citing systematic and widespread abuses, including sexual assault, rape, and disappearances.
PM urged the society to recognize the bravery of Kashmiri women, including Asia Andrabi and Mashal Malik, who continue to fight for the Kashmir freedom movement.
In the end, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that women’s representation is a progressive step toward gender justice and equal rights, and reaffirmed his commitment to gender equality on behalf of his government.
