MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, chaired an emergency meeting at the State Disaster Management Authority Control Room regarding the current weather situation.

The meeting directed that the People residing within a 35-foot fence near the rivers should be immediately shifted to safe places by imposing Section 144.

While immediate compensation will be ensured for the victims affected during the recent rains.

The meeting decided to improve the effective monitoring system and emergency response rate to monitor the rate of water flow in the rivers and to protect the populations marked for danger in case of any flash flood or water aggression by India.

The Prime Minister directed Hattian city to take immediate steps to protect the local population during the rising water flow in the Jhelum River.

The meeting decided to provide temporary residential accommodation to the residents of the houses that collapsed during the flash flood.

The Prime Minister directed the district administration to immediately pay compensation checks to the concerned and affected people within the next 24 hours.

It was directed to immediately review the damage caused to the electricity infrastructure due to flash rains in Jhelum, Neelum, and Bagh districts and take steps.

The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir sought a detailed report from the Secretary of the Power Department about the electricity losses. The Prime Minister directed to establishment of an emergency check post in Muzaffarabad to monitor the water flowing in the water resources.

An effective health campaign will be run by the Information Department to protect citizens from the monsoon spell according to the principles of hygiene, and an operation will be carried out to eliminate encroachments around the rivers.

It was decided to further intensify immediate relief activities for tourists stranded in Neelum and areas where the land connection of the population is cut off.

The meeting also decided to advise citizens to boil water before drinking, to inform the public about the dangers posed to water resources during the monsoon, and to take immediate safety measures.

The meeting decided to conduct an immediate water testing to protect natural water sources in the capital from the effects of the monsoon.

Immediate action shall be taken against those taking selfies and collecting firewood on the banks of rivers. In this regard, the police were also directed to register immediate FIRs against violators.

In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners of various affected districts informed the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir about the losses incurred during the recent monsoon spell, the total loss and the relief activities, and the provision of necessary resources. T

The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Col. (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Secretary Information Sardar Adnan Khurshid, Secretary Electricity Irshad Qureshi, DG SDMA Sardar Waheed Khan, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Chaudhry Guftar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Mudassar Farooq, while the district administrations of Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley, Neelum Valley, and Bagh participated via video link.

Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that the first-hand information provided by the officers should be authentic and timely, and you will be provided with immediate emergency funds

The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that the welfare of the people has been made the priority.

He added that public resources will be spent on the people, and the emergency department should be active.

SDMA and the administration are doing a good job. Special attention should be paid to the flow of water in water sources. Section 144 should be strictly enforced to keep citizens away from water passages, and no one is allowed to break the law.

The police should take steps to ensure foolproof security arrangements in the capital.

The PM AJK said the Health Department should immediately launch an effective awareness campaign on hygiene principles and public safety.

He went on to say that citizens in danger near water should be immediately shifted to safe places, and officers should work day and night to provide all possible assistance to the citizens.

He directed that no negligence will be tolerated, and he said that the safety of the people will be ensured in every possible way.
