ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Ezel, the sole surviving newborn from the tragic incident at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, has also lost her life, bringing the total number of infant fatalities in the tragedy to 15.
According to the hospital administration, Ezel was born prematurely and had been undergoing treatment at PIMS Hospital since birth. Her condition was critical; despite the doctors’ best efforts to save her, she could not survive.
Waqas, the father of the deceased infant, has confirmed Ezel’s passing. He stated that she had been under treatment since birth and her medical condition remained consistently critical.
Family sources revealed that Ezel was born approximately three months ahead of schedule—at six months and ten days of gestation—and hailed from Kashmir.
During the fire at PIMS Hospital, Nurse Razia Noreen had saved Ezel’s life by safely evacuating her. Following the incident, Ezel was kept under medical observation, but despite days of treatment, she lost her battle for life.
News of Ezel’s death has further deepened the gravity of the PIMS tragedy. The bereaved family and concerned circles are expressing profound grief and sorrow over the incident.
The total number of newborns who lost their lives in the PIMS tragedy has now reached 15, while further details regarding the incident continue to emerge.
