HATTIAN BALA (Kashmir English): A citizen has filed a petition in the High Court of Azad Kashmir against the government for neglecting the Union Council Langla, Hattian Bala, in public-sector jobs and the failure to determine the quota for disabled persons in the recent health package advertisement.

The petition, filed by Kiran Noor, argued that UC Langla is being ignored in job allocations, with the excuse that it falls under the Jhelum Valley jurisdiction.

Langla is the only Union Council of Jhelum Valley, which was included in Constituency 4 of Muzaffarabad, the petition said, adding that when a vacancy becomes vacant or is created in Constituency 4, Langla is ignored by saying that it comes in District Jhelum Valley.

Furthermore, the petition, moved through Advocate Chaudhry Shahzad Yaqoob, added that the recent health package advertisement issued by the Health Department Jhelum Valley did not include a quota for disabled persons, violating government policy.

According to the details, notices have been issued to seek responses from the parties, including the Secretary Health, the  Director General Health, the District Health Office Jhelum Valley, and the Selection Committee Chairman District Jhelum Valley.

The High Court has sought a response and ordered the parties to appear in court on June 3, 2025, along with the record, and give an explanation.

It is pertinent to mention that before the last general elections, only one union council of Jhelum Valley district, Langla, was included in the constituency number four of Muzaffarabad, purely for political interests.

Since then, the union council has been neglected, which has caused significant distress to the educated youth of the area, who have been deprived of job opportunities and are suffering from mental stress and ageing.

Earlier, there were vacancies for female school teachers, but the girls of this union council were not even given a chance to appear in the competitive examination.
