RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun planning to rename the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, for which official tenders have been invited.
The PCB has officially initiated the process of selling the naming rights of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and invited commercial companies to submit tenders in this regard.
It will be the first time that the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, a historic venue, will be tied to a private organization’s name.
PCB officials said the sale of naming rights of cricket grounds is an element of a policy to boost commercial revenue, facilitating the generation of income from cricket grounds all over the nation.
It should be noted that the selling of naming rights cricket grounds began with Karachi, and now it is the turn of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
National Stadium Karachi was rebranded as the National Bank Cricket Arena, providing sponsorship opportunities.
Sports grounds across the globe are being linked with sponsors’ names, and PCB’s move is following the international commercial trend. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is one of the international sports grounds.
