MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): More than 80 people, including tourists, were successfully rescued after a massive landslide blocked Pattiali Road near Garhi Dupatta on the evening of June 29, 2025. The landslide was triggered by heavy rainfall and a sudden flood from Munger Nala, which brought large rocks and debris onto the road.

According to details, vehicles carrying tourists heading to the scenic point of Patialli got stuck on the road due to the landslide. The Pakistan Army and civil administration promptly launched a rescue operation and safely evacuated the stranded tourists.

According to officials, the landslide occurred around 7 PM, trapping several vehicles on Pattiali Road. Tourists heading to a popular sightseeing point in the area were caught in the incident. The Pakistan Army’s Quick Response Force (QRF), under an officer’s supervision, reached the site promptly and began rescue efforts.

Civil agencies, including SDMA, Rescue 1122, and the Highway Department, also joined the operation. Local community members and elected representatives (MLAs) stepped in to help by providing temporary shelter to those stranded, easing the distress of affected tourists.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic, but the well-coordinated response helped maintain calm and order. After a thorough check, rescue teams confirmed that everyone was safe.

Due to the risk of further landslides at night, the debris removal and road restoration work on Pattiali Road was postponed until the next morning, June 30. SDMA’s Director General confirmed that all tourists and locals were shifted to safer areas and that full restoration efforts would resume at daylight.

The public has praised the timely and efficient action by local authorities, civil departments, and the Pakistan Army in dealing with the emergency on Pattiali Road.
