SUDHANOTI(Kashmir English): A passenger van crashed near the Azad Pattan bridge on the entrance point of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Punjab, resulting in several injuries.

As per details, dozens of passengers sustained minor injuries, while six people were seriously injured.

The Hi-Ace was traveling from Rawalpindi to Ali Sujal, Rawalakot, with 18 passengers on board.

Rescue officials said that the accident occurred due to brake failure of the vehicle, making the vehicle go out of control and go off the road.

As soon as the accident was reported, Azad Pattan Police and Punjab Rescue teams immediately reached the accident site and started rescue operations.

The injured were shifted to THQ Hospital Kahuta after first aid, while the seriously injured are being shifted to Rawalpindi.

The incident followed a similar accident at the Azad Pattan bridge earlier this year, in which 26 people from Sudhanoti and its surroundings died.

Accidents have become common due to the lack of fitness certificates in most vehicles going from Azad Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab, mainly Punjab.
