MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir is set to launch the second phase of its “Right to Self-Determination Signature Campaign,” aiming to gather signatures from citizens of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, demanding a plebiscite from the United Nations.
Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali said that the campaign seeks to raise the demand for the right to self-determination at the global level by sending a document with 50,000 signatures to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In the first phase of the signature campaign, 49,000 signatures have been received from Neelum, Jhelum, and Muzaffarabad districts, he said in a press release.
Ghazali appealed to the citizens above the age of eighteen in Azad Kashmir to become a part of the campaign in the second phase and make their voices heard.
The campaign aims to highlight the Kashmir issue and push for a solution, emphasizing the importance of the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a press statement, he stated that said that the Indian military dictatorship in occupied Kashmir and Indian terrorism on the ceasefire line have made the entire South Asian region unsafe.
“The Kashmiri people have been struggling for the determination of their political future and freedom from Indian occupation for seventy-eight years.”
Furthermore, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan, which has always unwaveringly supported the demand of the Kashmiri people for a plebiscite.
