MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Significant weather activity is expected to develop over the country in the coming hours with the upper parts, including Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir, Swat, and Mangora, likely to see rain showers today.
The Potohar Region, including twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, shows signs of incoming instability, with chances of thunderstorms or light rain.
There is also a possibility of hail due to increasing moisture and upper-level instability.
Strong convective cells and potential thunderstorms are forming over Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Dera Ismail Khan, Layyah, and Bhakkar, moving northeastward.
Gusty winds and short rainfall
South and central Punjab, particularly areas around Multan, Bahawalpur, and surrounding areas, may also witness gusty winds and short rainfall at the local level, according to the weather update.
Parts of Sindh, especially areas around Sukkur and northern Sindh, could see thunderstorm.
Furthermore, the country is expected to witness normal to above-normal rainfall in the months of May and July, with risks of heatwaves and floods at local level, the Meteorological Department has warned in its latest forecast.
Southern Balochistan and much of Sindh received significantly less precipitation between February and April, leading to reduced soil moisture levels. In contrast, moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in the northern and central regions.
There is also a likelihood of flooding in June and July in areas of Azad Kashmir, Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
