Pakistan’s Arusha Saeed wins bronze medal in Kurash at Islamic Solidarity Games

RIYADH (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s Arusha Saeed clinched a bronze medal in the Women’s 57kg Kurash category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This marks Pakistan’s first medal at the Games and a significant moment in the nation’s growing journey in martial and traditional sports.

According to the state-owned news agency, Arusha Saeed displayed exceptional skill, strength and determination, competing against some of the top Kurash players of the world and proving her talent on one of the most competitive world stages.

The Pakistan Kurash team was led by Muhammad Saad as Head Coach with Muhammad Rafique and Shahzaib Nawaz contributing to the athlete’s rigorous training and preparation.

Another victory at Islamic Solidarity Games

Furthermore, boxer Fatima Zahra also thrashed Algeria’s Hamda Melissa in the Women’s 60kg quarterfinal on Thursday night to reach the semifinals.

The 21-year-old staged an impressive 5-0 victory over her Algerian opponent at the Games, securing her place in Saturday’s semifinal.

Pakistani player dominated in all three rounds, securing a 10 from all five judges in each round except from one judge in the second round.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s Maria Rind suffered a defeat at the hands of Turkiye’s Rabia Topuz 5-0, while compatriot Laura Djida Akram suffered the same fate at the hands of her Uzbek opponent.

Pakistan’s Qudrat Ullah will also open his campaign in the Men’s 55 kg quarterfinal today (Saturday) against Yousif Hassa Othman of Palestine.
