ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The year’s first supermoon is to be seen tonight, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced.
A SUPARCO official said the moon will be at a distance of about 224,000 miles from Earth during the event, appearing 6.6 percent bigger and 13 percent more luminous than a regular full moon.
The supermoon will be seen from all over Pakistan, rising in the east just after sunset and setting in the west prior to sunrise.
SUPARCO went on to say that two additional supermoons can be seen this year.
The brightest supermoon for 2025 will be on November 5, and the third and last of the year will occur on December 5.
Astronomers clarify that a supermoon is when the moon comes closest to Earth in its orbit, and it thus appears significantly larger and brighter in the evening sky.
