ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan has assured full support to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over its refusal to send the national team to India for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to security concerns.
According to the government sources, Pakistan will review its decision to participate in the T20 World Cup if Bangladesh’s issue remains unresolved.
The 2026 T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026. Sri Lanka had previously hosted the competition in 2012 and India in 2016.
As per details, the Bangladesh government has reportedly reached out to Pakistan for support over the issue of not sending the team to India. Insiders indicated that if Bangladesh’s concerns are not adequately addressed, it could affect the tournament.
Pakistan has emphasised that no country should face pressure or threats regarding hosting responsibilities and has assured its neighbours of full support on the matter.
According to sources, Pakistani officials said that Bangladesh has reasonable and valid reasons, which should be implemented, and India cannot be allowed to intimidate any country.
Earlier last week, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed its willingness to host Bangladesh’s matches in the T20 World Cup after the BCB decided against traveling to India. Sources confirmed that Pakistan has formally communicated its interest in hosting Bangladesh’s fixtures if venues in Sri Lanka are unavailable.
They added that all Pakistani venues are fully prepared to stage World Cup matches and highlighted Pakistan’s successful hosting of major ICC events, including the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ICC Women’s Qualifier.
