DAZHOU (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s U-18 hockey team delivered a brilliant performance in the ongoing U-18 Asia Cup, crushing Sri Lanka 9-0 in their second group-stage match. The match was played in Dazhou, China, where the tournament is being hosted from July 3 to July 13.
From the very beginning, Pakistan dominated the game. Assam Haider scored a stunning first-half hat-trick, setting the tone early. Other first-half goals came from Abdullah Awan, Zubair Latif, and Atif Ali, taking the score to 6-0 by halftime.
The second half saw continued dominance from the Green Shirts. Adeel added two more goals, while Atif Ali scored again, making the final score 9-0. This victory came right after Pakistan’s opening 8-0 win against Hong Kong, showing their strong form and excellent defense, with no goals conceded in both matches.
The U-18 Asia Cup has brought together 11 teams from across Asia, and Pakistan’s early performance makes them one of the tournament favorites. Their next matches are scheduled against Bangladesh on July 8 and hosts China on July 9.
