LEEDS (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s defeat in the first Test against England at Headingley has added another unwanted record to their recent Test history, with the team registering its sixth-lowest Test total in England since 2000.

Pakistan were dismissed for just 135 in their second innings, completing a disappointing batting performance after being bowled out for 171 in the first.

The 135-run total is now among Pakistan’s lowest scores in England since the turn of the century. Their five lowest totals during this period came at some of England’s most famous Test grounds.

Pakistan’s Lowest Test Totals in England Since 2000

  • 72 runs — Edgbaston, 2010
  • 74 runs — Lord’s, 2010
  • 80 runs — Trent Bridge, 2010
  • 119 runs — Old Trafford, 2006
  • 134 runs — Headingley, 2018
  • 135 runs — Headingley, 2026

The defeat was equally damaging in terms of Pakistan’s record against England. England’s innings-and-103-run victory became Pakistan’s sixth-biggest innings defeat against the hosts.

Pakistan’s heaviest innings defeat against England came at Lord’s in 2010, when they were beaten by an innings and 225 runs.

England’s Biggest Innings Victories Over Pakistan

  1. 2010, Lord’s — Innings and 225 runs
  2. 1954, Trent Bridge — Innings and 129 runs
  3. 2006, Old Trafford — Innings and 120 runs
  4. 1978, Lord’s — Innings and 120 runs
  5. 1962, Headingley — Innings and 117 runs
  6. 2026, Headingley — Innings and 103 runs

The result has put Pakistan under considerable pressure at the start of the three-Test series. The Shaheens had arrived in England after drawing their previous three-Test series against the West Indies 1-1, but their batting collapse at Headingley has given England an early advantage.
