LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Sports Board has announced a cash reward of Rs. 8.2 million for the national under-16 volleyball team following their historic win at the Asian Championship. This decision comes as part of the board’s efforts to recognize and encourage young athletic talent in the country.

According to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Sports Board, each player from the 12-member squad will receive Rs. 600,000. The reward falls under the board’s Cash Award Policy 2024, which allocates incentives for athletes who win gold medals at the continental level. This amount represents 30% of the total reward entitled under the policy.

The Pakistan Sports Board stated that the team’s coaching staff will also be honored. As per policy, the coaching team will receive 50% of the total team award, with the head coach being given Rs. 1 million.

The board confirmed that these cash prizes will be distributed to the players and coaching staff in the coming days.

The spokesperson emphasized that such rewards not only appreciate the hard work of young athletes but also motivate future stars to perform better at the international level. The Pakistan Sports Board believes that consistent support and acknowledgment can elevate the country’s overall sports performance.

The under-16 volleyball team made headlines earlier this month after defeating Iran 3-2 in a thrilling final match of the Asian Championship. The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, securing Pakistan’s first title in this category.

The announcement by the Pakistan Sports Board is being celebrated by fans and sports analysts alike, who see this as a positive step toward promoting youth sports development in the country.
