ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan will launch the second countrywide anti-polio campaign of 2026 on April 13 (Monday) that will continue till April 19.
An inauguration ceremony for the April 2026 National Immunization Days (NID) Polio Campaign was held at Mohra Sharif Astana, marking the start of synchronized activities for Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Another major ceremony took place on April 10, 2026, at the Police Services Hospital in Peshawar, led by the Provincial Minister for Health.
The drive aims to vaccinate over 45 million children under the age of five across the country.
Nearly 413,000 frontline workers will participate in the door-to-door drive.
Around 760,000 children to get anti-polio dose in AJK
The campaign will cover all provinces and federating units with the following specific targets: Punjab over 23 million children; Sindh approximately 10.6 million children (with a local launch in Karachi scheduled for April 21–28); Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa more than 7.2 million children; Balochistan over 2.6 million children; Islamabad over 460,000 children; Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK approximately 228,000 and 760,000 children, respectively.
Children vaccinated during this campaign will also receive Vitamin A supplements to boost their overall immunity.
Meanwhile, anti-polio campaign (April 13 to 16, 2026) under the District Health Office Haveli Kahuta, AJK has been officially inaugurated.
The inaugural ceremony was held under the chairmanship of District Health Officer Dr. Tasqeen Ahmed Rathore.
The purpose of this inaugural ceremony was to review the preparations made for the timely and effective conduct of the polio campaign, ensure the efficiency of field teams, and promote public awareness.
The campaign is starting on Monday, during which more than 28,000 children under five years of age will be administered polio drops, and a special dose of Vitamin A will also be provided.
For this campaign, 156 mobile teams, 21 fixed centres, and 16 transit points have been established across the district.
Furthermore, 35 area in-charges and 13 UCMOs have been deployed to ensure effective monitoring and transparent implementation.
According to the Health Department, all vaccines and necessary logistical supplies have been delivered to the field teams in time.
