ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday categorically rejected the Afghan Taliban regime’s “baseless” claims that Pakistan’s military accompanied the armed opposition groups in Badakhshan province.
In an interview with DW News, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the anti-Taliban armed groups are receiving support from Pakistan.
“Not long ago, members of the armed opposition had even accompanied Pakistani forces to Badakhshan,” Mujahid was quoted as saying.
However, in a statement issued on its Fact Checker’s X account, the ministry “rejected the baseless allegation that its forces supported or accompanied armed opposition groups in Badakhshan.”
“Nothing can be farther than this from the truth. No credible evidence has been presented to substantiate this false narrative,” it stated.

The statement added that the “violence in Badakhshan reflects Afghanistan’s own internal security and governance challenges, not Pakistani interference.”
Available independent reporting has documented the clashes as an armed struggle against non-inclusive and oppressive Afghan Taliban rule, without establishing any Pakistani involvement, it said.
Furthermore, the information ministry added that Islamabad has consistently supported a “peaceful and stable Afghanistan” and has no interest in destabilising its neighbour.
“The Taliban regime should address the growing challenges arising from its own governance failures instead of blaming Pakistan for Afghanistan’s internal problems. Assertions without evidence cannot substitute for facts.”
