ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan on Wednesday announced a temporary pause in Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq against the terrorists and the Afghan Taliban regime from March 18 to March 23.

In a post on X, the Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that the decision was taken in view of the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a post on X, the federal minister said that the decision to announce a temporary pause on ongoing Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq was taken upon the Government of Pakistan’s own initiative, and the request from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye.

In view of the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, upon its own initiative as well as on the request from the brotherly Islamic countries of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has decided to announce temporary pause amidst ongoing “Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq” against the terrorists and their support infrastructure in Afghanistan,” the statement noted.

The minister further said that the pause will be applicable from midnight March 18/19 to midnight March 23/24.

Pakistan offers this gesture in good faith and in keeping with the Islamic norms. However, in case of any cross-border attack, drone attack, or any terrorist incident inside Pakistan, Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq shall immediately resume with renewed intensity,” the minister maintained. 

707 Afghan Taliban personnel killed

In another post, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar said that 707 Afghan Taliban personnel and Fitna Al Khawarij terrorists were killed and more than 938 others were injured so far in the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq.

Sharing an update regarding the Afghan Taliban losses on X, the minister added that the armed forces had destroyed 255 border posts and captured 44 others.

Meanwhile, he said that 237 enemy tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns have been destroyed, while 81 terrorist support infrastructure in Afghanistan were effectively targeted through air strikes.

The minister further noted that the Pakistan Armed Forces targeted Afghan military installations in Kabul and Nangarhar on the night of March 16.

“In these strikes, Pakistan’s forces destroyed drone storage and technical support infrastructure and ammunition storage sites in Kabul and Nangarhar, which were being used by the Afghan Taliban and terrorist elements to carry out attacks against innocent Pakistani civilians,” the statement added.

Similarly, according to the minister, security forces effectively targeted and destroyed Afghan Taliban posts in the Bajur, Kuram, Torkham, Khyber, North and South Waziristan sectors.
