COLOMBO (Kashmir English): Pakistan team is out of the ICC Women’s World Cup title race after match between Pakistan and England was called off due to rain.
The Green Shirts consequently were eliminated from the semi-final race.
In the match played in Colombo, the Pakistan women’s team won the toss and invited England to bat. The English team’s batting line-up faltered against Pakistan’s excellent bowling, losing 7 wickets for a total score of just 78.
However, the match was affected by rain and was limited to 31 overs per innings. In this, England scored 133 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted overs.
For Pakistan, Fatima Sana took 4 wickets for 27 runs, while Sadia Iqbal took 2, and Diana Baig and Rameen Shamim took one wicket each.
In the rain-affected match, Pakistan was given a target of 113 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Chasing the target, the Pakistan women’s team had scored 34 runs without loss in 6.4 overs when the match was again stopped due to rain and later called off without any result.
Due to rain, the Pakistan women’s dream of defeating the former world champions and securing their first win in the 2025 World Cup was shattered, and simultaneously, the Pakistan women’s team was eliminated from the semi-final race. Pakistan and England teams were awarded one point each.

It is worth noting that the Pakistan women’s team had lost to Bangladesh, India, and Australia in the current event.
