KARACHI (Kashmir English): Pakistan has become eligible to resume international football activities after the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) lifted suspension on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) following constitutional tweaks.

On the insistence of the international football governing body and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the PFF Congress approved the constitutional amendments, according to the officials.

“The Bureau of the Fifa Council decided on March 2, 2025 to lift the suspension that was imposed on the PFF in February,” said a statement by the football-governing.

The ban was lifted after the PFF Congress unanimously approved the version of the PFF Constitution validated by FIFA and the AFC, fulfilling thereby the requirement established by the Bureau in its Feb 6 decision.

Following the suspension lifted, all of the PFF’s membership rights, as defined in the FIFA statutes, have been reinstated.

This also allows PFF representative and club teams to participate in international football competitions once again.

FIFA had imposed restrictions last month after PFF Congress members initially refused to accept the constitutional amendments, which were deemed necessary to ensure a transparent election process.

However, during a follow-up meeting on February 27, the Congress approved the amendments.

The lifting of the suspension paves the way for the country’s participation in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

The PFF had previously announced it was unable to participate in the event due to the suspension.

Now, as the ban has been lifted, the PFF needs to make quick arrangements for its upcoming match against Syria, scheduled to take place later this month.
