LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to decide on the national team’s participation in the T20 World Cup participation today, local media said on Sunday quoting sources.

Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi, according to the sources, is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the evening today, who will decide on the Green Shirts’ participation in the global event.

Earlier media reports suggested a potential boycott by Pakistan after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) request to move their games to a venue outside India.

Bangladesh excluded from World Cup

The BCB requested the venue change after Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the BCCI’s instructions, sparking fury in Bangladesh.

The ICC later replaced Bangladesh them with Scotland in the tournament, saying it was not feasible to change the schedule so close to the February 7 start of the tournament.

Bangladesh’s exclusion from the event triggered reports of Pakistan’s possible withdrawal from the global tournament.

PCB chief Naqvi had already held a meeting with PM Shehbaz on January 26, where the two discussed the issue of national side’s participation in the event.

According to sources, an announcement regarding participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 is expected after the PCB chief-PM meeting today.

The decision to unveil the team’s World Cup jersey was also postponed on Saturday due to “unavoidable reasons”, suggesting that the same would be discussed once the participation issue is settled.
