SHARDA, AJK (Kashmir English): In a significant move to support vulnerable communities during the harsh winter months, the Sharda Battalion, in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and several non-governmental organizations, distributed over 500 winter relief kits during a ceremony held at Degree College Sharda on Wednesday.
The initiative, supported by HANDS and other organizations, targeted the most at-risk residents of the region, including widows, disabled individuals, and the elderly.
A total of 508 winter relief packages were handed out to local residents.
Each relief kit contained essential items for the season, including one blanket, three pieces of children’s clothing, and three pieces of adult clothing.
In observance of Ramazan, the ceremony was meticulously planned to provide a systematic and respectful environment, featuring appropriate seating and facilities for all attendees.
The event was attended by high-ranking military and civil officials, underscoring the collaborative nature of the relief effort.
Those who graced the ceremony included Lieutenant Colonel Khurram Mahfooz, Commanding Officer 6 Northern Light Infantry (6 NLI), DSP Fayyaz Sarwar Sharda, representing the local police, Civil Administration representatives, who provided logistical and administrative support.

Local residents expressed deep gratitude for the welfare initiative, noting that such efforts are vital for promoting social harmony and strengthening civil-military cooperation.
