GHIZER (Gilgit-Baltistan) (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Army, on the special directives of Field Marshal Asim Munir, launched a relief operation and established a field hospital in the flood-hit remote village of Tero, a valley in Phander Tehsil and the Ghizer District in Gilgit−Baltistan.
According to the Pakistan Army, a special team of doctors was dispatched to the area, including pediatricians, gynecologists, medical specialists, and GDMOs.
Due to the floods, the village’s land route was cut off from other areas, leading to severe health problems for the local population.
The team of doctors examined the affected patients, provided medicines, and decided to stay in the area to provide 24-hour medical facilities.
For immediate treatment, four severely injured individuals were airlifted to the hospital by helicopter.
Additionally, the Pakistan Army distributed relief ration including flour, rice, pulses, clean drinking water, and other essential food items, to affected families.
According to the Pakistan Army, the mission of public service will continue until the complete rehabilitation of the affected people.
Flood relief operation
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army’s Engineers Corps restored a road blocked by a landslide in Shangla.
The Corps is engaged in rescue and relief efforts in the flood-affected districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Clearance of the blocked Aloch-Chakesar Road is ongoing at multiple locations in Shangla, while personnel with heavy equipment are also deployed in Alpuri.
In Buner, Army Engineers, with machinery and specialized urban search and rescue teams, are conducting road clearance and recovery operations in Bishnoi, Bataai, Gokand, and Pir Baba.
Operations are being monitored from the relief and rescue operations headquarters established in Daggar in collaboration with the local administration.
The Pakistan Army is steadfast in providing all possible assistance to the affected population, and relief activities will continue until complete restoration of connectivity and normalcy.
