LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has decided to deploy the Pakistan Army in six districts of the Province amid the severe floods.

The Punjab Home Department has sent a letter to the Federal Interior Ministry for the deployment of the army in 6 districts of the province due to the severe flood situation.

The Punjab government has called in the army to assist the civil administration and protect human lives due to the flood situation in Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Narowal, and Okara.

The district administration, Rescue 1122, Civil Defense, and police are already engaged in the rescue operations.

The Punjab Home Department says that the number of military troops in the 6 districts will be decided in consultation with the district administration.

According to the letter, army aviation and other resources will also be provided in the flood-affected areas as per the need.

Earlier, according to Commissioner Gujranwala, Pakistan Army teams have been initially called for Sialkot and Narowal due to the flood situation in the Chenab River, the Tawi River and other rivers.

He said that Pakistan Army relief teams have been dispatched for Sialkot and Narowal.

On the other hand, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that Narowal district is currently facing a severe flood situation.

The release of 2.25 lakh cusecs of water in the Ravi River at Kot Ninan has submerged a vast area, while severe flooding is also ongoing in the Nala Dik.

According to Ahsan Iqbal, the district administration is busy with relief operations; however, in view of the seriousness of the flood, assistance has also been sought from the Pakistan Army.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that I appeal to all the people to remain vigilant, not take unnecessary risks, and ensure their safety.
