ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): According to figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan’s annual inflation rate in April 2025 was a record low of 0.3 percent on an annual basis.

It is important to note that Pakistan’s annual inflation rate reached its highest level in history in May 2023, reaching a record high of 37.97 percent.

In April 2025, CPI inflation fell to 0.3 percent on an annual basis, down from 0.7 percent the month before and 17.3 percent in April 2024.

On a month-over-month basis, it fell by 0.8 percent in April 2025 after rising by 0.9 percent the month before and falling by 0.4 percent in April 2024.

The 10MFY25 average inflation rate dropped to 4.73 percent, which is significantly less than the 25.97 percent rate that was observed during the same time the previous year.

Urban CPI inflation dropped to 0.5 percent year-over-year in April 2025 from 1.2 percent the month before and 19.4 percent in April 2024. On a month-over-month basis, it fell by 0.7 percent in April 2025 after rising by 0.8 percent the month before and falling by 0.1 percent in April 2024.

In April 2025, rural CPI inflation fell by 0.1 percent year over year, compared to 14.5 percent in April 2024 and no change in the preceding month. On a month-over-month basis, it fell by 1.0 percent in April 2025 after rising by 1.1 percent the month before and falling by 0.9 percent in April 2024.

Compared to a decline of 21.6 percent in April 2024 and 2.3 percent a month earlier, SPI inflation on a year-over-year basis fell by 3.2 percent in April 2025. In April 2025, it fell 1.7 percent on a month-over-month basis, compared to 0.1 percent the previous month and 0.7 percent in April 2024.
