MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Labourers and owners of the stone crushing plants jointly staged a protest demonstration against the government decision of shutting down the plants in Muzaffarabad, alleging that plants were sealed on false reports.
Crushing plant owners stated that the Department of Environment and the Department of Minerals misguided the government, which they said led to the closure of the plants.

Condemning the move, they said with the closure of the Kamsar crushing plant, construction work across the city has stopped, and the prices of construction material have suddenly increased a thousandfold. What used to cost citizens Rs 3,000 is now selling for Rs 15,000, they said.
The urged the government to save people from unemployment, warning if they don’t get justice, they will shift the protest towards the city.
It is worth noting that a few months ago, the Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir had ordered closure of some stone crushing plants over complaints of pollution and environmental degradation.
