ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure suffered major damages due to recent floods, local media reported citing sources.
According to a report submitted to the federal government, sources confirm that more than 100 health centers across the country were affected in the floods.
The report stated that a total of 104 health facilities sustained damages, with seven completely destroyed and 97 partially affected.
The worst-hit regions included Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, three health centers were completely destroyed, while two each in Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan were also reduced to rubble.
The report said 25 facilities in Sindh, 12 in Punjab, and seven in Gilgit-Baltistan were affected.
The report highlighted that 97 partially damaged centers have already been restored, ensuring continuity of basic medical services. However, challenges persist in areas where entire facilities were collapsed.
Rebuilding damaged health infrastructure remains a challenge
