MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has revised the timings of educational institutions across the state for the upcoming month of Ramadan, which will start on March 2, 2025.
AJK government’s Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) Secretariat has issued notification in this regard.
Earlier on Friday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that the holy month of Ramadan will start on March 2 (Sunday) as the moon was not sighted in the country on Friday.
As per the notification, the schools and colleges in Azad Kashmir will run from 08:30 am to 01:30 pm on Monday to Thursday and Saturday, while on Friday, the education institutions will run from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The communique, issued by the Section Officer Syed Mehmood Hussain Shah, stated that after Ramadan, the educational institutions will follow the timings as per those announced in a notification dated 15.08.2024.
Earlier, the government also revised the working hours of the government offices for Ramadan.
“The President Azad Jammu & Kashmir has been pleased to accord approval for observance of the following timings during the forthcoming Holy Month of “Ramazan” in the offices of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir,” the notification read.
As per the notification, the offices working on five days a week will run from 9:30 am to 03:30 pm on Monday to Thursday, while the working time will be from 9:30 am to 01:00 pm on Friday.
For the offices working on six days a week, the working hours have been fixed from 9:30 am to 02:30 pm on the first four days of the week — Monday to Thursday — and Saturday. These government offices will remain operational from 9:30 am to 01:00 pm on Friday during Ramadan.
