MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an emergency alert regarding a new powerful series of rains, wind, and snowfall in the upper and western regions of the country.
According to the press release, this series of westerly winds will enter the western regions of the country from the night of February 8, which will engulf the upper regions from February 09.

Weather situation in various provinces
Northern areas and Kashmir:
Heavy snowfall and rain are expected in the districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from the night of February 9 to February 10. Murree and Galiyat are also likely to get a white sheet.
Balochistan and Sindh:
Rain with strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the mountains are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Kalat, Mastung, and Loralai, and other districts during February 8 and 9. Drizzle is also likely in the coastal areas of Sindh during this period.
Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, and Chakwal from the evening of February 9. Thunderstorms and snowfall are expected in the districts of Swat, Dir, Chitral, Peshawar, and Mardan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 9 and 10. Hail is also expected at some places.
Precautions and warnings:
The Meteorological Department has warned that snowfall may affect traffic flow in tourist destinations like Naran, Kaghan, Murree, and Swat.
There is also a risk of landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Authorities have directed tourists to be careful and all relevant agencies to be alert to avoid any untoward incident.
