MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration of Muzaffarabad has released updated poultry, vegetables, fruits and egg prices in Muzaffarabad, bringing slight reductions to ease the financial burden on the public.

Issued by the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, the new rates are effective from May 04 and aim to ensure better price control and transparency in local markets.

According to the official price list released by the Price Controller, a slight reduction has been made in the rates of essential items to offer some relief to the public

As per the updated prices, the rate of live broiler chicken has been fixed at Rs 415 per kilogram, breeder chicken meat at Rs460 per kilogram, and desi chicken meat at Rs1,050 per kilogram. The golden chicken will now be sold at Rs850 per kilogram.

The prices of eggs have also been set based on their weight. Eggs weighing between 40 to 50 grams will be sold at Rs235 per dozen, while those weighing between 51 to 65 grams will cost Rs255 per dozen.

Vegetables Price

Vegetables have also seen some price adjustments aimed at easing the burden on consumers. Tomatoes will now be sold at Rs80 per kilogram, desi potatoes at Rs70 per kilogram, and desi red onions at Rs60 per kilogram.

Chinese garlic is priced at Rs510, Other commonly consumed vegetables include desi tinda at Rs70, pumpkin at Rs90, and bitter gourd at Rs120 per kilogram. Spinach (bunch) is priced at Rs35, while desi spinach is at Rs70 per kilogram.

Peas will cost Rs180, ladyfinger Rs210, cucumber Rs90, cauliflower Rs120, cabbage Rs56, capsicum Rs130, carrots Rs90, and round eggplant Rs110 per kilogram.

Significant changes have also been introduced in fruit prices. Bananas are set at Rs210 per dozen. White apples will be sold at Rs290 per kilogram, while Iranian apples will cost Rs440 per kilogram. Strawberries are priced at Rs210, and Punjab guavas at Rs160 per kilogram.

Watermelon is available at Rs80, sweet melon at Rs110, yellow melon at Rs110, and white melon also at Rs110 per kilogram. Kinnow is priced at Rs310 per kilogram and grapes at Rs610 per kilogram.

These rates have been introduced by the government to benefit the public, and shopkeepers have been instructed to display the price list prominently in their shops.
