Matters with JAAC resolved, final agreement to be signed soon: Tariq Fazal

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who is also the negotiator, on Friday confirmed that the matters with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) have been resolved.

The matters with the Action Committee of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have been resolved. Final agreement is expected to be signed soon,” the minister wrote on X.

The final round of negotiations is underway. Public interests and peace are our priority,” he stated.

The second round of negotiations between the federal minister, the Azad Kashmir government, and the leaders of the rights group started today after the Friday prayers in Muzaffarabad. A fresh round of talks was held yesterday, which ended without any consensus.

The Awami Action Committee earlier announced that both parties have reached a consensus, and the official notification will be issued soon.

Kashmir Digital correspondent, currently in Muzaffarabad, confirmed that the action committee has announced reaching a successful agreement with the government. The decision was met with jubilation, as participants and supporters celebrated in various locations, including Azadi Chowk in Muzaffarabad and Kohala.

Earlier, speaking with Geo News, Planning Minister and negotiator, Ahsan Iqbal, said that a consensus has been reached between the government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).

Iqbal said that a government negotiating team was very close to an agreement with the action committee.

The minister said that the agreement would be signed soon, terming it a victory for Pakistan, the people of Azad Kashmir, and democracy.
