NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): A tragic accident in Neelum Valley’s Jagran area claimed the lives of four people on Friday when a passenger jeep overturned on its way from Seri to Goryal. According to initial reports from Rescue 1122, the accident was caused by the poor condition of the road, which has long been a source of concern for locals.
The jeep was carrying six passengers when it lost control and flipped over. Four people, including a married couple and two women, died on the spot. Rescue 1122 identified two of the victims as Haji Syed Alam Awan and Irfan Chughtai. The two remaining passengers sustained injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the dire need for better infrastructure in Neelum, especially in remote areas like Jagran, where winding roads and inadequate maintenance pose serious risks to commuters. Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that the road’s deteriorating condition was a major factor in the accident.
Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 Neelum arrived quickly at the scene, carried out rescue operations, and transported the injured for medical care. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and handed over to their families after necessary procedures.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the accident and promised to look into the road conditions in the Jagran area. In the meantime, Rescue 1122 Neelum has urged travelers to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in hilly areas during the monsoon season.
