National Guard shooting: Female soldier succumbs to injuries, says Trump

WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): A National Guard soldier injured in a shooting near the White House in Washington, D.C., has died.

US President Donald Trump told the media that two National Guard members were shot yesterday.

He confirmed that 20-year-old Sarah Backstrom died of her injuries, while 24-year-old Andrew Wolf is in critical condition.

Trump said that the National Guard shooting suspect is also in critical condition.

The US President said that our security personnel are serving the country, but illegal immigrants come here and create problems. He said that he has spoken in detail with the authorities about illegal immigrants.

It should be remembered that two National Guard members were shot near the White House in Washington yesterday, after which a suspect was taken into custody, identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah.

Afghan citizen Rahmanullah Lakanwal came to the United States during Biden’s presidency in 2021.

Moreover, House-to-house searches were conducted in various areas after National Guardsmen were seriously injured in a shooting by a suspected Afghan national near the White House.

The FBI searched several homes during the operation in Washington state and San Diego.

In this regard, Director Kash Patel said that they have also reached the suspect’s residence from where many electronic devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and iPads, have been seized and their analysis is underway.

FBI Director Kash Patel said that relatives of the arrested Afghan national, Rahmanullah, were also questioned to find out the reasons for the National Guard shooting.

US authorities say that the suspected attacker lived in Washington with his wife and children.

On the other hand, US authorities released a photo of 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, confirming that the suspected attacker had worked for the US intelligence agency CIA in Afghanistan in the past.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe told the media that the suspected attacker, Rahmanullah, was allowed to come to the United States because he had worked for the US government in the past.
