Muzaffarabad weather: Heavy rainfall may cause floods in capital

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are set to witness extreme rainfall, which may cause flash floods in the lower-lying areas.

According to details, heavy rains with strong winds are continuing in various suburban areas of the capital of Azad Kashmir.

According to the Meteorological Department, this unusual weather may worsen the floods in the city and its surroundings.

Local citizens said that due to strong winds, the risk of falling trees and electricity poles has increased, while there is a possibility of traffic being affected due to water accumulation on the roads.

According to the Met Office, heavy falls may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Manshera, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Swabi, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab, Kashmir, Hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining areas.

Heavy downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Peshawar, Nowshera, and Mardan.

Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir during the forecast period.
