MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Landslide activity has resumed in Dana Sahotar, an area of Khawra constituency in Muzaffarabad, following a 10-year break.

The landslide site has become active, closing the main highway and putting several houses at risk.

Ten years ago, the same landslide site affected two villages and nearly 80 families were displaced.

With the landslide resuming, the ground has started sinking again. Several feet of land sank in a single day, closing the road and cutting off electricity to several areas.

Due to the landslide, ground connectivity has been cut off for several villages including Sahotar, Kacheli, Kot Tarhala, and Sanwarian, while no measures have been taken by the administration so far.

Similarly, due to the road closure, the public is facing severe difficulties. Cracks have appeared in several houses, making them uninhabitable, and people have been forced to live under open sky.

If rain continues, there is a fear of large-scale damage. Nearby settlements are also concerned because this same landslide previously wiped out two villages.

It should be noted that during the 10 years, a road could not be built at the landslide site, and the highway here was repeatedly filled with stones and soil.
