MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Muzaffarabad Food Authority has launched a crackdown against fast food restaurants in Azad Kashmir’s capital.
As per reports, the Food Authority team received a complaint through the helpline 1280, after which the team took swift action and started checking fast food restaurants in Muzaffarabad.
During this operation, the quality of food items, cleanliness, and the presence of medical certificates and licenses of food handlers were checked.
Assistant Food Safety Officer Qazi Shafiqur Rehman, along with the Food Authority team, conducted a detailed inspection of the food center for cleanliness, quality of food items, registration and labeling, and other legal requirements.
Several violations were found during the inspection by the Food Authority, which included poor cleanliness arrangements, sale of substandard and unidentifiable items, and negligence in registration and labeling.
Taking action on these violations, the concerned food business operators were issued on-the-spot fines and corrective notices and given instructions for immediate improvement.
District Food Controller Muzaffarabad/Jhelum Valley, Abrar Ahmed Mir, said that they will ensure the provision of healthy and hygienic food items to the public.
Implementation of the Food Authority Act 2017 and Pure Food Regulations 2019 will be ensured at all costs. The Food Authority Muzaffarabad’s campaign to ensure the provision of quality food to the citizens is successfully underway.
Action will be taken under the Food Authority Act against food business operators who do not implement the Food Authority’s SOPs. Citizens have also been asked to immediately report any such complaint to the number 1280 provided by the Food Authority so that timely action can be taken.
