MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration Muzaffarabad has launched a crackdown on shopkeepers selling domestic and commercial gas cylinders at prices higher than the rates fixed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

A special team led by Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad Ghulam Mohiuddin conducted sudden raids in different areas of the city, sealing several shops and fining shopkeepers on the spot for price violations.

During the raids, various markets, gas agencies, and small shopkeepers were inspected.

Talking to the media, the Assistant Commissioner stated that the administration will not tolerate arbitrariness in gas cylinder prices and looting of the public.

He said that some shopkeepers are creating artificial shortages to sell cylinders at high prices, severely affecting the poor and middle class. “A zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against those involved in such activities.”

The citizens have appreciated the district administration’s action and demanded that such measures be continued to permanently end illegal profiteering and provide relief to the public.
