MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A monsoon tree plantation campaign is currently underway in Muzaffarabad, organized in collaboration with the AJK Forest Department, Organic Growers Parsacha, and the Wildlife Department.
The campaign aims to promote environmental improvement, combat climate change, and provide welfare to the local population, the statement issued by the government’s Press Information Department (PID) said.
The local community and children actively participated in the tree plantation campaign at the Wildlife Park and Zoo Patikka on Sunday.
District Information Officer Muzaffarabad Sohail Khan and environmental volunteer Raja Shakeel Khan participated in the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizers said that the campaign aims to raise environmental awareness among the people and promote the importance of tree plantation in improving the environment and combating climate change.
The officials emphasize the importance of community participation in the tree plantation campaign and the need to select appropriate trees suitable for the local environment. They stress the importance of proper care and maintenance of the planted trees to ensure their growth and success.
The statement said that the campaign prioritizes the planting of local tree varieties, which are suitable for the local environment.
The objectives of the tree plantation campaign include environmental improvement, combating climate change, welfare of the local population, improving the climate, and providing habitat for wildlife, it added.
“Tree plantation helps in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, and improves the environment by reducing pollution, soil erosion, and enhancing biodiversity,” the statement read.
