LONDON (Kashmir English): Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas reached a major milestone of 900 first-class wickets during the second Test match against England at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Thursday.
He has achieved the unique distinction during his 222nd first-class match by dismissing England opener Ben Duckett for 17 runs.
Mohammad Abbas shook the English top order, taking the first three wickets, including that of English captain Joe Root and opener Emilio Gay.
Abbas reached the landmark in his 222nd first-class match, with his impressive record including an average of 20.43, 57 five-wicket hauls, and 15 10-wicket match hauls. He has 123 Test wickets in his name in 32 matches.

With this achievement, he became the fifth Pakistani pace bowler to reach 900 wickets and the overall 12th Pakistani to do so.
Other Pakistan pacer with this mark are Imran Khan with 1287 wickets, Wasim Akram with 1042, Sarfraz Nawaz with 1005, and Waqar Younis with 956.
He also became the 5th bowler in the world to take the most first-class wickets in the 21st century. Abbas and James Anderson are the only active fast bowlers in the world with this many wickets.
In the list of leading first-class wicket-takers of this century, England’s James Anderson leads with 1,181 wickets since making his first-class debut in 2002.
South Africa’s Simon Harmer is second with 1,056 wickets, while Sri Lanka’s Malinda Pushpakumara is third with 1,010 wickets. England’s Tim Murtagh occupies fourth place with 959 wickets.
Thus, Mohammad Abbas has completed his 900th wicket at Lord’s and has become the 5th player to achieve this milestone.
