ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Two days of suspension later, mobile internet services have begun to be restored partially in different parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The services were suspended after a religious group had announced a protest march early this week.

Official sources have reported that mobile data connectivity has been restored in some localities, and in others, users are still experiencing disruptions.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had suspended mobile internet facilities at the orders of the Ministry of Interior as a precautionary measure for security.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had given the approval for the suspension, which was initiated two days ago, in order to avert any possible unrest or abuse of cyberspace facilities on the occasion of the protest.

Containers were positioned at major entry points in both cities, and security was beefed up to ensure law and order.

As per the sources, the process of restoration is being done step by step, depending on the changing security scenario.

Full restoration is planned once the threat of unrest reduces and normalcy returns to the twin cities.
