HATTIAN BALA (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has continued the process of providing Mobile Food Testing Labs to different cities across the state on the orders of the AJK Supreme Court.
As per details, Deputy Commissioner Syed Ashfaq Gilani has inaugurated the food testing van in Hattian Bala. The mobile food testing lab will be available for one day a week in Jhelum Valley district.
The mobile food testing labs, equipped with advanced technology, will be able to take samples of various spices/milk/oil, and other food items on the spot and give their results within few minutes.
On the inauguration, SP Mirza Zahid Hussain, Chairman Municipal Committee Hattian Sujawal Khan, Assistant Commissioner Kamran Khan, President Anjuman Tajran Syed Faisal Gilani, District Food Controller Abrar Mir, Food Technologist Anila Abbasi, Food Inspector Altaf Kharkhar, Asif Abbasi, Secretary Arshad Awan, Safir Abbasi, Deputy Tehsildar Ayaz Chughtai, Social Leader Syed Zahoor Naqvi, Food Authority officers, Traders Association and citizens were also present.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Ashfaq Gilani directed the Food Authority to conduct indiscriminate checking and not to give any concession to anyone. There will be no compromise on harmful and sub-standard food items, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the checking process should be carried out in large business centers, food chains, and hotels, to which he immediately issued instructions that first all large hotels, food chains, and business centers should be checked, after which ordinary shopkeepers should be checked.
With the Food Authority getting a modern van laboratory, further improvements will be made and it will be possible to eliminate adulteration. Modern training of Food Authority employees has also been conducted for the laboratory.
