MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The spokesperson of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority has issued a performance report of the mobile food testing lab for the month of Ramadan, banning 19 companies selling defective goods.
According to the spokesperson, the Food Authority has been testing various food premises in Azad Kashmir from the first of Ramadan through its mobile food testing lab and other laboratories.
Based on the analytical reports, a total of Rs 13,37,800 in fines were imposed on various food business operators, while substandard goods worth Rs 16,08,000 were destroyed.
Substandard and unhealthy goods, including milk, water, ghee, oil, spices, beverages, and frying oil, were destroyed, and 19 companies were banned in Azad Kashmir.
Additionally, the spokesperson stated that the government provided funds for the establishment of the mobile food testing laboratory, while the Supreme Court has ordered to carry out the work without any specifics or exceptions.
The Food Authority spokesperson reiterated that strict action will continue to be taken against manufacturers and Food Business Operators (FBOS) dealing in substandard food items in the future as well, and no detail will be spared in this regard.
